If you like making things yourself and you’d rather have a case that’s entirely your personality, try these options.
These step by step instructions at ChicaAndJo.com show you how to make a cover that doubles as a reading stand, using some cardboard, fabric, and elastic. If you’ve already got the parts around your home, you might end up with a case that costs you nothing except for a few hours of light work.
Homemade Leather Journal Cases
Artsci over at MobileRead.com has posted three tutorials now about how he makes custom cases from leather embossed journals that he buys. He cuts out the blank paper–really it’s just the embossed leather he needs. The finished effect is an elegant and striking old-world look that’s well-suited to Kindle owners who enjoy the heft and feel of a real book when they read. You should also check out this earlier thread by the same person for more inspiration.
Remember, you can also design your own pattern or photo collage and have it printed onto an adhesive vinyl skin, then apply that to your Kindle. Check out UniqueSkins on the Decals & Skins page.
