Oak and Brass Charging/Sync Stand
OldTimeComputer.com makes custom wood and metal enclosures that turn your modern devices into something that looks like it belongs in a Victorian steampunk adventure, or maybe Wild Wild West. The ereader stand, however, is subtle enough that it can disappear into pretty much any décor. More info in this post.
Sturdy and semi-translucent, this frosted plastic stand slips onto your Kindle 2 easily and holds it firmly in place. Opening and closing the legs are noisy and you have to remove it before using a case, but it’s a lightweight, easy-to-store solution. I reviewed it here.
This oddly-shaped bendy stand is easy to fold up and store in a bag, pocket, or briefcase, and the bendable nature of the arm makes it easily adjustable. It also looks like a squid and a Kindle mated.
This grayish-brown tray looks bulky, but its design allows you to position your Kindle at a very low angle as well as nearly upright. It’s also the only stand with a slot for holding your case, making it the least portable but possibly most useful for home use (if you can get past the look of it).
Not technically a stand, this fold-over M-Edge case is self-supporting when you flip the cover back. If you want to keep your Kindle in a case but prop it up no matter where you are, it might be just what you’re looking for.
The DustJacket case features a built-in kick stand that you can pop open and set up with a few quick moves. Check out my review for more details.
Cyncronix Adjustable Kindle Stand
The only adhesive stand I’ve found. Small and flat enough to remain attached to your Kindle even if you already use a case, and the cheapest solution on the list (unless you make your own).
If you’ve got a polymer clay that you can bake at home–Sculpey, for example–you can make your own ultra-cheap, homemade stand. I made mine one evening over about an hour counting baking time, and spent another hour painting it. You can tell I only spent two hours on it. On the plus side, it cost me nothing because I already had the supplies.
