Consumer Reports says Kindle best ebook reader for Mom

If you’re thinking of getting your mom an easy-to-use, high quality ebook device for Mother’s Day, Consumer Reports suggests the Kindle. They tested out a variety of ebook devices, as well as the new Apple iPad, and decided that when it comes to simply reading, the Kindle has the best combination of features and functionality.

It’s hard to tell from the clip, but it looks like the decision came down to either the Kindle or Barnes & Noble’s Nook. The CR testers said the little LCD color screen was actually problematic on the Nook, because it’s the only way you can navigate your library and it’s a little too small to use effectively.

As for the iPad, it’s certainly a beautiful tablet computer, but it’s twice as expensive and heavier. If you’re just looking to read ebooks, the Kindle is the better deal.
