Jane Austen sale extended another day, says publisher

“We tried, we screwed up, we’re sorry,” writes Dominique on the Sourcebooks blog, in reference to yesterday’s Jane Austen promo that apparently didn’t go as planned. You can read her full post if you want an inside look at how hard it is to pull off a widespread ebook event in today’s market, but the short version is this: Sourcebooks came up with the idea about two weeks ago, which didn’t leave enough time to get all the booksellers’ systems updated by yesterday morning.

The good news is that Dominique says all of the free offers have been extended by one day, so if you’re just now learning about the event, you’ve still got time to grab illustrated copies of Austen classics, plus nine sequels to “Pride and Prejudice” by various contemporary authors.

(Note that this promo is being run across several retailers, so you can find the free titles on stores like Barnes & Noble as well.)
