Scrabble now available for the Kindle

The first official paid game for the Kindle has been released, and it’s the classic word lover’s game SCRABBLE. There’s not much to say about it other than it serves up Scrabble’s standard gameplay, albeit in a no-frills presentation: there’s no online or wireless mutliplayer, but there is a pass-and-play option if you want to compete against a friend in the same room. Otherwise you can play solo or against the game’s AI.

There are a few other issues to note. Some reviewers are complaining that it looks ugly on regular Kindle screens. One reviewer points out that, unlike ebooks, the license seems to only work for a single device–so if you share multiple Kindles in your household you might run into problems. Another says it’s not available in Canada, so I’m guessing Kindle owners in other parts of the world are going to be similarly slighted. And just like the earlier two active content apps for the Kindle, it won’t work on original Kindle model, only Kindle 2, Kindle 3, and DX models.
