“The Nimrod” by Mark Kelliher
Price: $0.99 $2.99
Amazon Summary:
At 31 and with a college degree, Gary Sloane has decided to take the road less traveled — one that has ultimately left him living with his crazy Aunt Muriel in the backwater of Puzzleville, Cape Cod, where he operates a no-name landscaping business that last year barely cleared $1,000. Muriel suspects Gary’s best career option at this point is national infamy, and further suspects that he’s done the dirty deeds to get there already. Because this road-less-traveled that Gary’s been stumbling along? It’s murder!

Okey dokey, well I gotta admit I thought the Amazon description of the THE NIMROD was just intriguing and provactive enough to give it a tryout. What I didn’t expect was what a real bargain this bargain book actually would prove to be. It has an interesting beginning…you don’t realize at the time that it is a lenghty set up for a coming barrage of off kilter observations, wild situations and some of the funniest sh*t you’ll ever read. Not that the beginning isn’t funny because it is…its just a stylized way to set it up I think. I also think that most of the Amazon reviewers got this one right. In a land somewhere between raucous, ribald and riotous THE NIMROD manages to somehow be the hysterical bible of the damned.
